The Beginning

Truly, this isn’t the beginning. Indeed, where can you decide that something actually starts? Did this start when I started typing, or when I had the idea for the blog or the website, or did it start when I first went to Europe, or maybe when we first talked about going to Europe (or travel in general). Where is the beginning?

For now, we will call this the first post, and therefore the beginning. 🙂

So hello and welcome! Why are you here? Why am I here? Why are any of us here? Ok, maybe it’s a bit early in our blog relationship to be getting that existential, so let’s start with something simpler.

Why am I doing this blog?

Reason 1: To have a better way to share my adventures with people who find them interesting; and,

Reason 2: To make it easier for people to follow along vicariously.

I enjoy life. Sure there are ups and downs, but overall, I think life is pretty awesome. I like seeking out interesting adventures, learning new things, and meeting new people. People are different and experience things differently, and you’ll get to experience the world through my eyes.

Also, I want to share my adventures with people who would enjoy them, but I can’t fit everyone in my luggage, so this is the next best thing. In fact, this might be even better in some ways. It’s a semi-permanent record of my adventures; I can tag things and connect them to each other for easier storytelling; and it’s a way to travel with me, even if you don’t have the means or opportunity.

So we are here together; me, sharing the things I see and do, my reasoning and thought processes, and generally happy nature; and you, getting to travel the world from your screen. A pretty good arrangement, if you ask me.
